Welcome! I am Anna-Lena Spies from Atra Luna Design
I’m a Digital Artist, Book Cover Designer and Graphic Artist from Bavaria, Germany.
I am living in a very small village by Bamberg near the forest. I'm a workaholic, nature lover and harmony addicted. I love gardening and animals. So I collect rare plants and feed our birds, squirrels and even the dormouse in our housetop. Art is like breathing and eating for me - I can't without. Since 2010 I have been working for self-publishing authors and indie publishers, in addition to studying art history and my part-time job as a medical assistant. 2018 I made my master of arts and since the end of 2019 I took the step to become full time designer. Since that time I worked with many bestselling indie authors and publishers around the world.
I do book covers, author/series/house logos, character art with merchandise license, interior design (Full Page Spreads, Breaker, Header), Special Editions with Foil and Edge, Banners for Book Signings/Conventions, Book Promo Material like Bookmarks etc.

HOW I WORK
Each of my covers and character arts is one more story vision come to life in color and light. I try to get your stories into art. But my covers and artworks are not a literally translation but more a symbolic marriage of word and art. And this art is highly symbolic, with many hidden or not so hidden details and hints while also looking for the market and the way the art will affect your readers.
My works are mainly photomontages or mixed media. For this I use stock photos or my own photos and paint them over with my graphics tablet. Also I work a lot with 3D models, which I either make myself with Blender or I use Assets, which I can alter and pose as I need. I also use textures and fractals, which I make with Chaotica. For my vector artworks I use Illustrator and Procreate.

I hereby guarantee that I don't use AI in my work. I only work with legitimate 3d assets from sites like Daz3d, Renderosity, cgtrader, Blendermarket and the Unreal Engine Marktplace. When I use stock, I try my very best only to use stock provider that are photographer with a website like faestock or boutique stock provider and stock provider that have been around way before AI and did not start to sell AI stuff. Also you can always ask for the links and invoices for my assets as well for a video of my layers.
